The Grifton Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency that provides twenty-four hour police services to a population of over 2,600 full time residents and businesses. Our mission is to safeguard the lives and property of the people we serve, to reduce the incidence and fear of crime and to enhance public safety.

Traffic Patrol Operations
The Grifton Police Department conducts proactive traffic enforcement operations 24 hours a day on town streets and highways. We take traffic enforcement very seriously and have a zero tolerance policy on driving while impaired and aggressive driving. Proactive traffic enforcement leads to a reduction in fatal and serious accidents, increases overall driver safety, and greatly reduces other criminal activity by creating a highly visible police presence in the community.
All Police Officers assigned to the patrol division receive extensive training and are required to be certified in Radar Operations, Standardized Field Sobriety, Accident Investigations and are Certified Intoxilyzer Operators.
Traffic Checkpoints
Driver’s License Checkpoints are routinely conducted throughout town to ensure compliance with North Carolina State Motor Vehicle Laws.
Drug/Alcohol Enforcement
TheTown of Grifton Police Department has a zero tolerance policy on drug and alcohol violations. Officer’s routinely conduct high visibility directed patrols in targeted areas to ensure compliance with state law and local ordinances.
