The Town of Grifton Planning and Zoning duties are handled by the Town Manager, who is responsible for the maintenance and enforcement of the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance.


Manager

The Town Manager  is responsible for all long range planning, such as the Land Use Plan and Comprehensive Plan, as well as current planning issues such as rezoning, special/conditional use permits, commercial site plan review, and subdivision plat reviews. The Town Manager serves as staff to the Planning Board, which is an advisory Board to the Board of Commissioners. All rezonings, special/conditional use permits, and major subdivision plats are subject to approval by the Board of Commissioners.

Economic

The Town of Grifton is situated in the middle of Eastern North Carolina on NC Highway 11 and NC Highway 118. The Town of Grifton is located approximately 15 miles from the City of Greenville and NC Highway 264 and only 14 miles from the City of Kinston and US Highway 70. The Town of Grifton is only approximately 40 minutes from both the City of Goldsboro and the City of New Bern. The Town is approximately 70 miles from Interstate 95 and Interstate 40 and only 90 miles from the State’s Capital City of Raleigh.

The Town of Grifton economic development relies mostly on small businesses inside the Town limits, but the Town is surrounded by several large manufacturing and distribution centers. The Town offers outstanding services and is attractive for growth and development regardless of size.
