The Town of Grifton prides itself in volunteerism. This does not show up any better than the participation the Town has on its many Boards and Committees.

Twelve local women saw the need to promote the beautification of the community created the Grifton Garden Club over 55 years ago. With 27 active members today, the group sells bulbs in the spring for a fundraiser.
They also sell Christmas ornaments of the old Grifton schoolhouse all year round. The group picks the yard of the month for the town, which the local paper publishes.

Lions Clubs focus on programming related to sight conservation, diabetes awareness, youth outreach, international relations, environmental issues, and other programs that support the local communities where Lions live. Lions Club International (LCI) is the world’s largest secular service organization with over 44,500 clubs and more than 1.3 million members in 203 countries around the world. The group sells fish stew at the Shad Festival and makes birthday calendars every year to raise money.

The Grifton Planning Board meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at the Grifton Town Hall. The Grifton Board of Adjustment meets on an as-needed basis.
In order for an item to be placed on the Planning Board agenda, a complete application, application fee(s), and all relative information must be submitted to the Town Manager, Joe Albright, at least 10 days before the next regularly scheduled meeting.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, with its Auxiliaries, includes 2.2 million members in approximately 8,100 Posts worldwide.
Its mission is to “honor the dead by helping the living” through veteran’s service, community service, national security and a strong national defense. The VFW has also fought for improving VA medical centers services for women veterans.
The group meets the 2nd Friday of the month at 7 pm at there Post on Hwy 11.
